The Problem

Technolutions needed a fully self-service VPS storefront where visitors could compare plans, complete checkout, and manage their VPS without engineer involvement after purchase. The goal was a WordPress discovery layer flowing cleanly into WHMCS for transactions and account management — all on a self-hosted server.

What I Built

  • WHMCS deployed on a live self-hosted VPS, resolving server prerequisites and environment requirements for a stable production installation
  • WordPress marketing site where users compare VPS plans and click through to WHMCS checkout when ready to order
  • Unmanaged VPS packages structured around CPU, RAM, storage, operating system, bandwidth, and line speed
  • Managed VPS packages including monitoring, security controls, endpoint protection, patching, and service coverage
  • PayFast local payment gateway integrated — resolved module visibility issues and debugged checkout redirect behaviour end to end
  • WHMCS automation cron configuration for billing cycles, service provisioning, and account lifecycle management
  • Front-end theme and order form customisation across both WordPress and WHMCS for a consistent product journey

Real Problems Solved

These are real issues that surfaced under real users and real hosting constraints.

  • PayFast gateway was not appearing in WHMCS admin — identified the root cause in module configuration, resolved the error, and validated the full checkout redirect flow with real test transactions.
  • Transactional mail appeared as sent in WHMCS but was not arriving in inboxes — investigated SMTP configuration and validated why the default server mail function fails on many hosting environments.
  • Server environment prerequisites were blocking the WHMCS installation — resolved PHP extension requirements and file permission issues for a reliable deployment.
